Hey there SFYNers!
This is Anne Luz, and it’s time to say farewell after two years as the chair of SFYN Amsterdam and hand it over tooooo….: Hanneke Michel!
When the previous chairwoman before me, Marrit, asked me for the position I was already boardmember for quite some time and had been projectleider for WDSD two years in a row.
When we were at Terra Madre, the two yearly Slow Food festival in Turin, I experienced such a bond with all the SFYNers from all over the world. It blew me away and made me smile the whole week. This connection made me want to be a part of it even more and said yes to Marrit.
I have many proud moments; like growing the movement and the network here in Amsterdam, organizing events, diners, workshops and putting the Food Safari back on track.
World Disco Soup Day went digital last year, and as I am someone who loves to meet live and was hesitant about online events, I eventually loved the vibe the WDSD team put down in the online event and I am super proud that they put in the effort to make it a success.
We collaborated with the organization behind ‘We Feed The City’ and ‘We Are TMRW’, and worked together with BeeHeroes and Hotelschool The Hague. We attended events like ‘World Food Day’ and participated in campaigns and climate marches. Always shouting out; ‘Vote with your fork’ and ‘They are giants, but we are millions’.
On top of that I got into the 2019 list of The Food100! I will never forget standing in between all these other amazing entrepreneurs and change makers in the food sector.
So what will I be doing now, where will you see me in the near future?
I started working at SauerCrowd, a startup based in Kitchen Republic in Amsterdam west. We focus on gut-health, the gut-mind connection, healthy soils and sustainable foodchains by producing delicious fermented vegetables (sauerkrauts).
Next to this I started the collective The Waste To Success; and together with Mara Lin Visser I’ll be organizing cooking workshops with saved food.
Gone as a coordinator, but definitely not gone from the SFYN family. My heart belongs to the movement, the ideals and the people. You’ll find me at the next Terra Madre for sure, and definitely when our Dining Club starts again, and I hope to see you there!
